Greenwood's Assist Statistics at Marseille: A Season in Review
At the start of the season, there was much excitement about Greenwood's potential to become one of the top assist artists in Europe. After all, he had already scored 18 goals and provided 14 assists for Manchester United last season, making him the first player to achieve this feat since Ryan Giggs in 2005.
But it wasn't just his individual stats that caught the eye. His performances were also praised by many for their creativity, vision and ability to create space for teammates. In fact, he was named as the PFA Young Player of the Year at the end of the season, with fans and pundits alike praising his ability to make things happen on the pitch.
As the season progressed,Football World however, it became clear that his form was not sustainable over the long term. While he continued to provide some impressive assists, they often came at the expense of other players. He struggled to find the back of the net consistently, and his overall contribution to the team was limited.
Despite these challenges, it is worth noting that Greenwood still managed to score 11 goals and provide 7 assists for the club in his time at Marseille. However, his assist numbers were well below what we had come to expect from him during his time at Manchester United. It will be interesting to see if he can improve his assist record when he returns to Old Trafford next season.
