The French striker Dimitri Payet has broken the wing barrier at Marseille, securing his place in the team's starting lineup ahead of their trip to Lorient on Wednesday.
Payet, who was part of the squad that won the UEFA Champions League last season, made his debut for Marseille in Saturday's 2-1 victory over Nice and scored a brace in the second half.
"I'm really happy," Payet said after the game. "I played well and got the goals I needed. It feels good to be playing with such great players."
Marseille manager Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang praised Payet's performance, saying: "He is one of the best strikers we have in the league. He's not only scoring but also creating chances for others."
The 25-year-old also impressed on his debut by making a series of passes to create opportunities for his teammates,Football World including a long pass to Victor Zampa that led to his goal.
"The goal came from a very good pass, Victor picked it up and he passed me through to the corner area," Payet said. "It's a goal you want to score and you need to make the most of it."
Payet's performances have been instrumental in helping Marseille secure their first top-flight title since 2014, and he is confident that his success will continue as he continues to develop as a player.
"Playing with this group of players makes it easier for me to learn new things," Payet said. "We're all playing together and working hard every day, so it helps me to improve."
